Francis Gotianun, First Senior Vice President of Filinvest Hospitality Corp. (FHC), recently spoke at the 3rd Shareholders Association of the Philippines (SharePHIL) General Membership Meeting on August 27 at Dusit Thani Manila.
The event, themed “Next-Gen Leaders: Reshaping the Future of Business,” featured notable panelists including Dennis Zamora, President of Nickle Asia Corporation; Pammy Olivares-Vital, President & CEO of Ovialand; and Ana Maria Aboitiz-Delgado, Institutional Banking & Chief Customer Experience Officer of Unionbank of the Philippines. The panel was moderated by award winning journalist Ces Orena-Drilon.
During his keynote address, Gotianun outlined Filinvest’s evolution and underscored the company’s commitment to empowering Filipinos through growth and diversification. He reflected on the group's role in shaping the hospitality landscape, emphasizing how Filinvest Hospitality is navigating industry shifts with a focus on strategic growth, operational excellence, and active partnerships. His message on sustainability was especially impactful, underscoring its pivotal role in the company's long-term strategy. This commitment is further exemplified in the recently completed 2023 Sustainability Report, which highlights ongoing efforts and future goals of the company.
In the panel discussion, Gotianun provided personal insights into his leadership philosophy. He emphasized the importance of leading with purpose and inspiring others to engage in the company’s mission. “You have to lead with purpose, and you need to be able to inspire people to get them engaged in what you’re doing. Without having a clear purpose, a clear center, it’s very hard to keep people, motivate people and compete in this very competitive environment,” he stated.
Orena-Drilon concluded the panel by asking about their outlook for the future of the Philippines. Gotianun expressed his strong optimism, pointing to key economic indicators and remarked that the country’s trajectory is poised for significant growth, saying, “Ten years from now, we’ll look back and say, ‘What were you all worried about?’” When asked about his thoughts on politics, Gotianun responded, “Politics come and go, we hope to be here. We’re hoping everybody wants the best for the country. We’re positive about it and looking forward to the future.”
